What to expect when you go dress shopping

So, you've just gotten engaged and you are so excited to start planning the wedding you've always dreamed of. First you probably will set the date, think of some venues to look at and then it's time to look for the Perfect dress! Looking for a dress can be the most enjoyable process ever, or the most stressful. Some ways to make looking for a dress fun, stress free and easy.

1. Only bring your mother, sister and maybe one other friend. It's important to have a decision maker there with you but you do not need 10 or even 5 peoples opinions. Remember it's YOUR day and you can where what YOU want.

2. When you go to your first appointment, be prepared to purchase the dress. I hear from a lot of my brides, 'we are just starting.' If you are looking at all, you should be in the mind set to buy because your dress could be what your looking at.

3. Know your budget or at least a ball park with in $500. This is important because you never want to fall in love with something if your not going to be able to get it.

4. Come prepared to the appointment. Do some homework and bring in pictures of gown styles you might be interested in. You won't be limited to the pictures, but it will give your sales consultant some valuable information.

5. Just a fact. Not all brides cry the moment they find their dress. Most people say you will get a feeling and you will just 'know' you've found it, but trust me, it's not like that for every bride. I have so many brides you just love the dress, love they way they feel in it and that's it. Case in point, you don't always have to wait for the tears because that just might not be your style.

Out of those five points, the most important is to just bring an open mind. Even if you have tried on 100 dresses, are stressed to the max and feel like you'll never find your dress, take a couple days off from looking. When you go back, go looking with an open mind, take your decision maker with you and I guarantee it will be one of the first dresses you put on. Happy Hunting!

Fall is definitely here and while we don't want to fast forward all the way Summer again, it's time to start shopping for your wedding dress for your Spring/Summer/Fall wedding of 2011. It amazing at all the orders I have thru October Weddings already. The hot trends are all over the magazines with rosettes, detailed trains and soft fabrics. Stressed about finding the 'perfect' dress. Remember looking for your dress is like looking for your fiance. I'm sure after you found him you stopped looking, well it's the same concept with your dress. There are hundreds out there that you will like a lot, but there will be only one that is perfect for you and you love. Some tips during your search: Bring only a couple people with you to try on because too many opinion's gets overwhelming fast. Bring some pictures of different designs you are interested in. Be ready to purchase your dress when you go out looking and also be sure to have your budget set before hand. So now you know what your looking for, get out there and start shopping. Recently I went to Mexico for a destination wedding. It was my first destination wedding I've been to and believe me, it was appealing. I think it's a common misconception that brides think they have to dress very casual for a destination wedding. But you don't! Dress up with a beautiful lace gown, or go with an empire waist silhouette. There are so many different directions you, as a bride can go. Not just with your dress, but also many great head pieces. EX: feathers, colored stones and short fun veils. Have fun, be creative and remember it's YOUR day!!
